Shackles

There are many who may have been amongst those who remained shackled to a Love that long passed by. This is the theme of todays Poem. Shackled to the memory of a love that haunts like a ghost and chains your heart thus remaining captive to that which is now gone.

Shackles

As I lay sleepless the Sunrise hits my eyes,
The Dawn chorus begins and amplifies,
As the last rain drops fades from view,
My mind wanders as I think of you.

Your radiant beauty springs to mind
Like the sun as it begins the day in Kind,
No escape from the bondage of your love
That keeps my heart captive from above.

I run with vain hope of escape
From the memory of your shape.
That overtakes me like a ghost
Yet I cannot hide or begin to boast.

Captive to your Love long past me by
Let it known I tried to let love fly.
But remain within the shackles that bind
My life to yours, Set me free if only in kind.
