Have you ever entered days where you feel like you are left to stand on a precipice, with company and yet alone. Alone in thoughts that sweep you away into a universe that almost seeks to wrap you into the pleasures that life can bring. Not the pleasures that most would think of, but the pleasures found hidden amongst the treasures of this world. Birds of the air that sing their song unaware of your dimema that takes you to that point.
Or young lambs that bounce about in relative safety in the midday sun.Such are the thoughts that have resulted in todays poem. What begun its time as a struggle for level grounding in mental health, resulted in a poem that I hope finds interest in others. Or in the least it finds a little entertainment whilst reading this post.
I do hope that this post finds you in a better place than the one I begn this day on. Yet resulted in a writing that eased a mind and maybe transform a mental attitude into a little brighter moment.

A Precipice of the Mind Standing on a precipice in company, Yet alone with thoughts in custody. Lost without colour in a field of roses, Building walls where life decomposes. Watching waves crash o’er wrecks, An endless cycle ne'er cashes cheques. Change the volume we cannot hear, Dinner bells that chime without fear. The north wind chills to the bone, And the waves still crash without a moan. Walking the rocky path to even ground, Feeling like a pound lost and penny found. Hug a coffee complete the sequence, Black dog chained to discover balance. As footsteps and excited voices pass, And gardener tends to fresh cut grass. The mind awakes with endless thoughts, Alert now to a sea of sounds taking shots. Blend the colours into one, drink the pleasure, Never cease to take a new, life's treasure. © Pat Fitzgerald 2022
