On a sunny evening I bring you another fresh from the pen as it were. How many have you come upon who wear a mask to hide the inner being from those about. How many can tell The Mask from reality. Such forms the basis of todays poem.
I hope that you enjoy as usual and feel free to leave a comment etc.
The Mask The first to fall in line, Bring the change on time, Twisting fate along the road Brings one to release the load. Counting stars a thankless task Without you behind the mask, Hidden styles with wasted moments Lost in a sea like rodents. Your hidden rhymes become an art That takes each rival to play the part. The guise you wear still pays the fare And leaves another without a prayer. Wear the mask to hide your cares A disguise within your inner affairs. Bring the battle beyond the spine To save thus or to bring to align. ©Pat Fitzgerald 2021

Interesting, I’m so glad I found this. I have a similar post on my blog titled “We wear the Mask”, my perspective based on a poem by Dunbar.
Thanks for sharing.
