It is not very often that I will admit without a doubt that I was inspired to compose a poem after listening to a song. Today is one of those days, Usually I listen to music when working here at home, especially Country music. For me listening to country music is rather new, or as new as I could admit, I grew up listening and loving Rock music, therefore moving in taste to country music has been a journey.
Like my poetry writing which has been growing and changing in style etc. Listening to music has been a help, again especially when it comes to a little theraphy around relaxation and working in tis little office.
One such song sung by Larry Fleet “Where I Find God” is a song that struck me and resulted in this poem below. My thanks to Both The singer and writers for the inspiration, But one must follow where inspiration takes them. I do not usually add songs to a blog post BUT here I am making an exception to help in understand why and how this poem came to being.
It is not a direct answer or follow on to this song, BUT what inspired my thought for the poem..
Having said all that Please enjoy the Poem below.

Where I Find God I ne’er look in buildings grand to find God, Or wander slowly o’er roads crowded and broad. Who finds Him seated behind a collar? Or placed with one that is the Scholar. Not e’er in carvings grand of wood or stone, Or seated high out of sight on a throne, Surrounded with gems and gold beyond reach. Ne’er catching tan surfing by that long beach. For in the eyes of a child nothing wild, But here innocence dwells and filled with smiles. You’ll not find God in a palace dining, But with those hungry and cold aligning. He is not found yet with those who take lives, Nor amongst those who plan wars or in fives. Look instead in the eyes and heart of love, Here shall you find God, as a silent dove. Take a walk amongst nature, find Him here, Sitting in silence as wildlife is near. I see Him in the crashing waves each day, Seek Him not in places or things at play. © Pat Fitzgerald 2023

Wow! Really loved this poem, Pat! Deep and moving and True!
It seems easy to Find God in the quiet places and simple faces
of little children and Grandma’s and Grandpa’s and by the sea shore or look at the stars in the desert. Listen to the wind and you will hear him whispering to your soul – Be Still and Know that I am God! (Psalms 46:8-11) It seems you poem inspired me hear! I’m so grateful for the message of your words here, Pat!

This reminded me of the message in Matthew 25:31-40 – ending with “Whenever you did this for the least of these, my brethren, you have done it unto me!! It would be great if more of us would actually do this???
