There are moments when the heart feels things so vast and deep that ordinary words cannot hold them. They are feelings as wide as the ocean , as high as the stars and as bright as fire.
This poem was written from a place of pure imagination and admiration exploring the idea of a love that is endless, overwhelming and truly divine. It is an ode to beauty, grace and the light that one can bring into the world
I hope that you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
In Wonder of Thee
Was it for want of waters that flow,
That deeper still my longings grow?
For deeper than the oceans lie,
And higher than the farthest sky.
Was it for stars that still align,
That in your eyes their glimmers shine?
Or midnight’s mantle, rich with flame,
That leaves all worldly wonders tame?
Was it but for love’s living fire,
I stand, my offered heart entire?
That leapt within, consuming all,
And reared to raging, radiant wall.
Was it for grace in all you show,
Like whispered winds that wandering blow?
A voice that falls so soft and sweet,
And draws this weary heart complete.
Was it for soul so rare, so fair,
Beyond all beauty resting there?
A light that leads me through the night,
And lifts the dark to living light.
So let the seasons shift and turn,
And stars above may fade and burn,
Yet still this steadfast flame shall be,
My endless peace, my love for thee.
