Most Popular Poem 2025

Morning Chorus

In morning’s mellow mist I moved,
Where woods were wordless, silence proved.
And The sun slipped softly past the pines,
While wandering winds drew wistful lines.

Through golden glades I glimpsed with glee,
A fox and rabbit roaming free.
They paused to praise the pulsing song
That stirred the stillness all along.

By bramble-banks a badger bold,
With careful claws through clover strolled.
A herd of hinds on heather high,
Like whispered wraiths went drifting by.

The hares in hazel hollows hid,
Then leapt with lightness, none forbid.
And blackbirds broke the boughs with cheer,
Their notes like nectar graced the ear.

A hush of heaven held the air,
As golden grace grew everywhere.
Some gentle force, though far, felt near,
Like light that lingers, calm and clear.

Though softened sounds may slip me by,
I feel the forest’s faithful cry.
In silence, too, the spirit sings—
Both hush and hymn bear golden wings.

Another Favourite of Readers

Stillness Found

Thoughts twist and tinker through my head at night,
As answers ever waken old-stilled fright.
Till stillness stirs beyond their fragile dreams,
Where founded fears still fight to forge their schemes.

Calm, caught caressing, finds my mind in kind,
Far beyond brightened stars the world’s confined.
Their fleeting fates and dramas drift and close,
While whispers wind through willows in repose.

I find fine feathers floating rivers deep,
Where softened soil lies still to guard and keep.
Here wander I, while nature’s breath caresses,
Freed from the weight of all the world’s distresses.

So find me where no storm disturbs the streams,
Nor startles fawns from golden sunlit dreams.
Find me where castles built on sand are gone,
For love lives here, where none may rule upon.

For nature’s native note renews my care,
As streams carve songs through fields once worn and bare.
And though the world may fade from faithless air,
No sound compares to her soft silence there.

My Own Personal Favourite Poem Written This Year

The Land That Keeps Me

Of all the roads and rural rainways,
Carry me to calm, green boreens to gaze.
Not to cities, cold and sparkling bright,
Nor townlit trails that tempt at night.

For this land a lush, emerald delight,
Stirs my soul with silent light.
Nature's notes in every weave —
Find me firm, for I’ll not leave.

Where windswept woods in whispers speak,
And mossy mounds hold mystic streak,
Each hedgerow hums in humble tune,
Beneath the breath of a silver moon.

By brooks that babble through the glade,
And fern-filled fields where fawns have strayed,
The dusk draws down with dusky grace,
On hill and hearth — this holy place.

With skies that swell in sapphire hue,
And dawns that drip with diamond dew,
The lark lifts light with lilting song,
As time ticks tenderly along.

So plant me proud where peat fires burn,
Let roots run deep and never turn,
In this dear dale where dreams abide,
Forever found at nature’s side.
