Darkness Concealed

Introduction:

No matter how much one works to hide or disguise “The Black Dog” of depression from our lifes, at some point along the road of life, it finds it’s way to steal the joy from our lives.

This is how I could best describe these past few days, battling “the Black Dog” that is depression. I have decided that today a Poem will be placed here that describes depression or those dark moments where none could reach.

This may not be a poem that best suits some or it may not appear much to the liking of others, yet still it will be published here on blog. Once a topic to write on springs to mind, I follow that and in the end write.

The Poem takes the same format as the last few poems I placed up here on blog and I hope that it strikes something for folks.

About The Poem:

The Poem seeks to speak from a view from one who is in the midst of a depressive time, How The Black Dog that is Depression roams free in the darkness that envelopes them. Unseen by any human eye, it best explains how Depression has been seen or described by folks who have been down this road.

There are some poems that bring with them a far shallow level water as it were when it comes to what one could speak of in building up to the poem. Or how one would speak of to explain todays poem or any poem that fits into such bracket.

Thus there is very little to write on to encourage folks to read this poem or indeed explain the poem more. But for today all I can say is todays poem is about Depression and those dark days in which people term that low time as “The Black Dog”.

Having said all of that. Please Enjoy This Poem:

Darkness Concealed

As the winds blew strong around this old place,
Enclosed within a glass case, trapped, no space.
Darkness cloaked all in sight, both seen and unseen,
No moonlight to reach the shrine, a nightly routine.

A black dog roams, stealing joy from the land,
Should one deploy a decoy or take a stand?
Beyond the darkened skies, sights none deny,
Windows of the soul reveal truth, no lie.

When moonlight shines, shadows play their tricks,
Dancing on her hair, a scene that sticks.
Silent in the darkness, she lays, unaware,
The black dog indifferent, offering no prayer.

Howls echo through the night sky, unheard,
Roaming closer than ever, without a word.
Breath on my neck sends chills, yet none is there,
Dawn's light arrives, shadows vanish in the air.

In the unseen mind, the black dog roams free,
Feelings concealed, for none to foresee.
When once again chained, no more to scare,
A prayer is offered, a solemn affair.
