Morning Chorus

In working on Today’s Poem, I noticed that there was an opened door as it were, for myself to use my disability within the lines of this Poem. BUT it only becomes visable IF a reader breaks down the words used and understand that I took advantage to use this in a Poem.

I have a hearing impairment which means that certain sounds, tones notes ect I will be unable to hear, unless I was wearing my hearing aids which help very much. But with a little discomfort Like elevated volumes from certain sounds that pierce like a dagger.

This is the first time I have used my hearing loss as a tool in a poem. For the purpose of helping to grasp the feel of sounds that one would catch when walking.

This Poem begins with a walk in the early morning light! Imagine a cool breeze seems to follow as you walk and the sights you see fill in the Morning Chorus. There is a most beautiful Chorus in the silence that one would find, IF they themselves keep as silent as the hearing loss appears to the eyes that see these sights.

Following the walk one will find animals, One could find in Ireland although one may be most lucks to find some that easy. BUT Come enjoy this walk in the Morning Chorus and feel the Beautiful song that touches deep within.

About The Poem:

Again this poem is in AaBb rhyming patern and use of alliteration I believe adds to the quality of this Poem. I am always interested in hearing and reading readers thoughts and feelings on poetry and certainly in this one. I am still learning and using what I learn when I feel it works well with what I write.

The Morning Chorus is for the most part a silent song that striked you deep with, when you take time to stroll on paths that animals go about their day, where a person could add to this Morning Chorus. If one had perfect hearing then all sounds could be added to this chorus, yet for one like myself, viewing all these animals etc move about add in their own way to “The Morning Chorus”.

I know some will notice that my poetry are finally hitting an area where I hope would fit within the standard of Past greats in Poetry. Not being one to take that standard as my own But I wish to reach a standard in composing a poem that will be on that level.

((Added after first published this Blog Post: What would one call that strage animal in the AI generated Image? Part hare and part Bird? ))

Having said all that I have; Please Enjoy This Poem:

I have started to use AI to create Images that suit my poetry because they work best for the moment. So any usual credit etc for copyrite etc goes where it should go. Not the best picture for this Poem But I believe it works for the Topic of the Poem.

Morning Chorus

In morning’s mellow mist I moved,
Where woods were wordless, silence proved.
And The sun slipped softly past the pines,
While wandering winds drew wistful lines.

Through golden glades I glimpsed with glee,
A fox and rabbit roaming free.
They paused to praise the pulsing song
That stirred the stillness all along.

By bramble-banks a badger bold,
With careful claws through clover strolled.
A herd of hinds on heather high,
Like whispered wraiths went drifting by.

The hares in hazel hollows hid,
Then leapt with lightness, none forbid.
And blackbirds broke the boughs with cheer,
Their notes like nectar graced the ear.

A hush of heaven held the air,
As golden grace grew everywhere.
Some gentle force, though far, felt near,
Like light that lingers, calm and clear.

Though softened sounds may slip me by,
I feel the forest’s faithful cry.
In silence, too, the spirit sings—
Both hush and hymn bear golden wings.

  1. This is a masterpiece, (loved every line) and I felt like I was on the stroll with you, hearing (deaf on one side) every chirp and song, crisp leaf traipsed by, and the wind magically swirling! Breathtakingly perfect! Bravo! :-D

    1. Thank you Cindy, I used to consider living with hearing issues was a curse, BUT I have come to see it as a form of blessing. Rather like not being a disabil;ity but a form of ability in another way.. They say other sences come into play when one is lost.. But I like it now, I lear5ned to see and hear in a different way..

      1. As one who grew upwith a speech impediment and had a struggle in dealing with that for years, I learned how to control and deal with that impediment, so I used the same model as it were in my hearing and view it as i had said..

  2. OMG, Pat!!! This is one of your best ever poems, ever!!! From the very first line and all of stanza one it was all awesome!! I was so thrilled to read this with all the Fantastic alliteration you used! Bravo, Pat!! This needs to go on your Top 10 List!!! The First Stanza will become a poetic Classic!!! The nice thing that I like about alliteration is that it seems to really help with the rhythm and the feel. Read this slowly and outloud and I think you will see what I mean. Reminds me of the feel of the Sidney Lanier poem Song of the Chattahoochee! I LOVE THIS!!!!
    Chuck 😁🎁✨👌👍💕

    1. Thanks Chuck, I just double checked on that and searched for the corect format.. You are correct.. My main concern was the spelling bec ause some words differ in Ireland and UK to the USA etc.. it is either copyrite or copyright and again you are correct there also my friend.. I will correct both pretty shortly.

  3. Pat , this poem is just excellent . Brought me back to years to when my Dad would take us on a trip up the Ballyhoura Mountains on a Sunday .

I could close my eyes after each line and imagine myself chasing after rabbits in an open field . Giddy with excitement when we saw a red fox .

    great stuff Pat.

    1. Greetings John, It is always great to read comments from folks, But when one is a fellow cove, I had to make an extra effort in reply. I grinned when I read yoour comment , because I often described it as running about like Terriers after rabbits as Kids.. I love The Ballyhoura Mountains, I describe them as almost being a southern wall to my home land, from the Black rock we used to go up to, and look northwards and view Limerick City in the distance. Awesome views. I have used the Bally Houra’s as a basis for some of my poetry and I certainly used them for the previous Poem also. I have a whole lot of memories from those hills, from earliest memories living up on the side of it , to starting school in Ballyhea and onwards. Thank you for the visit.. Blessing to a Fellow Cove have a great one.
