Following past posts, Today’s Poem contionues with the same route that Other Poems have come into being. But for todays Poem, I had a chance to Visit one of my favored places within the past week or so. That was to Visit Gougane Barra
which is Hidden amongst The Shehy Mountains in County Cork. Itis a place that has untold beauty and peace within and a place that I continue to visit and love. Within this place is an Oratory that is nested on a small island on a Loch. Today’s Poem is about this little place.
It is my attempt to describe my thoughts etc of such a peaceful place as This little place.
About The Poem:
Often we come upon a place that we feel should be marked in some manner that fits what one views. But often words and all else fails to build up to the beauty that one finds. For me this has always been the case, Until now that is. This Poem is my feelings etc about this place. Also it is a place of unspoken beauty that deserves to be marked even more than a Poem by myself.
The Oratory in question isa little Chepel that is situated on a tiny island on a loch that is surrounded by Hills and the Shehy Mountains that spread out around it. It is also very close to an Irish speaking area again a very beautiful language of us Irish. But I cannot speak highly enough of this area and the langauge spoken by people here.
Having said all that I can on this; Please Enjoy This Poem:

The Oratory
I see stained glass of this chapel,
And the loch that surrounds to grapple,
The hills that envelope and shield,
Such beauty within it’s own field.
The lazy lapping water breaks
The silence that surrounds and snakes
About this place at ease, a peace,
That enchants yet charms steps to release.
The Soft steps of footprints left behind,
By visitors thus solely blind,
To the captivating beauty there,
For few pause amongst trees for prayer.
From Cold coffee breaks to walking pace,
They pass through gates that awe replace,
Wonder and peace that surrounds them,
Yet none will ne’er dare to condemn.
This sacred Isle the loch protects,
From a busy world that defects,
Leaving this hidden gem for eyes,
To view as a refuge that peace implies.
