Outside The Walls

As I sat this afternoon to compose this poem, My thoughts and intentions were elsewhere and my hope for this poem, as it appeared turned out to be a little further away. My hope for todays poem was set for yet another attempt at improving my work at love poetry.

But it is Love of another kind that has bubbled to the picture for this poem. That is love for what lays outside the city walls. So many spend lives caught up in a world of fast paced lives completed with stress. And each may never have seen what lays before them in a slower world of nature. A world where the pace of nature and the pace of this city life are vastly different.

Todays poem seeks to encourage the reader to step outside and beyond the walls of city life and discover the beauty that is everywhere. A world where few may wander by and yet such nature lays in wait all about us. Simply put this is the poem in a way. It is one such poem that one needs to read and find for themselves. Who knows, it may speak differently to each person.

Of which I am curious and interested in reading about further.

Having said all of this, Please Enjoy this Poem:

Outside The Walls

Have you dared to wander o’er the mountains,
Where the wild flowers grow oft like fountains.
Yet spending time lost amongst natures lost,
Crossing shadows like cheques counting the cost.

OR walk through meadows in the summers sun,
Listen as the birds sing almost as one.
Or sit as the wind refreshes and blows,
Let worries of this world pass as it goes.

Have you strolled by streams where waters are clear,
Such brings cheer to hearts when nothing is near.
Listen to the birds in song without care,
Here minds can go to wander with no fare.

Or wander to places where few will go,
Nature springs it’s own surprise who will know.
Beyond this fast pace worlds await outside,
Push the tide and wander wide, who has tried.

Nothing lost from natures chest to misuse,
Outside the city walls many did snooze.
Who read the caption in this world and left?
Wandering the country side is no theft.
