An Ode To Wandering Thoughts

Todays poem is the end result of 3 days spent working and re-working and again re-working a poem I felt at times may never be completed. But such is the kind of poem that comes from and is about one of those “Lazy Days” where one’s mind begins to wander in a number of directions.

It is the hope that I have left a little of that feeling when a reader finishes reading this poem. That one’s thoughts are almost taken in a couple of directions, as if in exploration of unknown scenery.

Indeed one may find a number of other topics or just a meander through a Lazy Morning day dreaming. Which ever ones view or what one takes from this is of interest to me. But it is my custom at this point to try to place some form of back story along with a poem.

At times a back story may not seem as exotic or exciting as it may appear. But in short todays poem is set from my mind in a “Lazy Day” that in the end took me 3 days to complete.

Having said all of this, Please Enjoy this Poem;

An Ode To Wandering Thoughts

Seated in the shade of the summer sun,
Who dared run when desire was gone and spun.
The birds of the air rested where they could,
A time when all kinds follow suit and would.

Doubled in the morning coffee in hand,
Looking through the window all appeared grand.
Chores remained undone and possibly will,
Stay that way when feeling right for a thrill.

With unfinished coffee thoughts had wandered,
To the night before and lone night squandered.
A Starlight night with a soft gentle breeze,
The rustle in the trees kept me at ease.

Brought back to reality with great speed,
Intense barking of neighbours dogs, the seed,
That brought musing to a halt for this time,
Still seated sipping cold coffee, my climb.

A lazy day with ease of mind set free,
As one could flee for miles to yet agree,
Peace of mind often hard to find at times,
Where crimes of sanity my own dull rhymes.
