I have taken a step to change the style of my Poetry a Little bit. All to further learn a few of the steps, those poets who came before us took, to create their Poetry. The style I have written in for the last while has been fun. It is one which I love. I will most likely return to it pretty soon. Most of the Poetry I studied was written by Irish Poets. They were leaders in this genre of poetry. Thus I wanted to come to a stage of writing a little poetry in their style. That is without my knowledge of the proper terms, a Rhythmic form of Poetry. If someone knows the true terms Please let me know in comments.
Today is the first in one of those style of Poetry, BUT with a slight change. I will be adding one single word in the Irish language into the Poem. This is to make such a word more main stream and better known. As The Irish Language is undergoing a revival in which I am most proud of. I will post a Pronounced like, explanation before the Poetry if one appears Like this one today. If folks do not wish to read or pronounce such a beautiful word, Please just pass it by…
I wrote this poem, and for the topic, I had mixed feelings. I considered using a short sentence in Irish with its English translation. I also thought about including a pronunciation explanation. BUT Instead I have opted for one single word, that is short and sweet..
Especially when we are in an age where Racism comes to the front for so many time after time. This Poem should help even more.
NOTE:
Níl dath ar an ngrá — there is no colour on love.
pronounced roughly as: Neel dah ar un ngraw.
Níl dath ar an ngrá” is an Irish (Gaelic) phrase meaning “There is no color on love.
Interpretation: Similar to “love is blind,” this phrase implies that love does not see race, skin tone, or superficial differences. It suggests love is pure and formless.
It is pronounced roughly as: Neel dah ar un ngraw.
- Níl: “Neel” (long ‘e’ sound)
- dath: “dah” (hard ‘a’ sound, ‘th’ is silent or very soft)
- ar: “ar” (like ‘are’ in English)
- an: “un” (short ‘u’ sound)
- ngrá: “ngraw” (the ‘ng’ is nasal, ‘a’ is long as in ‘father’, and the fada [á] extends the sound).
Grá (pronounced “Graw”) is the Irish word for love – though, like many Irish words, it carries more than a single meaning.
This poem explores love as something without colour, shape, or boundary -something felt more than seen. Irish phrases are woven through it, not as barriers, but as part of its music.
Meaning, like love itself, reveals more in the feeling than in the translation.
In short the Irish Language Word used in this Poem is Grá (pronounced “Graw”) I would have complicated it even more by stated that Grá (was much like a rhyme of Raw but with a G on the from of that word.)
The Irish language had suffered due to Colonization. It came close to being wiped out along with the Irish heritage, way of life, and its beliefs. Thus when it came to school years Learning the Irish language became what felt like being forced. Therefore over the past number of years MY daughters and myself have been learning this very beautiful language again. I aim to include some of it in my poetry. Many towns, townlands, and areas are in Irish or have Irish names or meanings. Which I have had to avoid many of those in so much of my poetry all along. Now I can start including some of the areas in this style of poetry. These are areas I wanted to add all along.
Before moving on to the Poem, I needed to get all of the above out of the way. I had to repeat the Meaning and Pronounced like sounds below once more.
Níl dath ar an ngrá — there is no colour on love.
pronounced roughly as: Neel dah ar un ngraw.
Grá (pronounced “Graw”) is the Irish word for love

Níl dath ar an ngrá — there is no colour on love.
Grá (Graw): Love
No Colour on Grá, - no dye, no design,
A soft, steady symphony, subtle, divine.
Moods move like mist in the moon’s mellow glow,
Nature knows notes that no colours can show.
From fields of feeling, to dream-laden streams,
Love lifts its voice through the light of our dreams.
The blind may wander in want of a hue,
But raw, restless longing runs wordless and true.
For love lives lucid, it learns not disguise,
No shade can settle, or stay in its skies.
At noon, it hums in the heart of the day,
While lovers look on as it carries away.
A choir of quiet where kindred hearts share,
Breathing a bond in the bare, open air.
No colour can claim it, compare, or confine,
For Grá grows greater, unguarded, divine.
Its melody moves with a measured, deep sound,
A harmony hidden, unbroken, unbound.
Where colour cannot come close to its home,
In crystal-clear light, love endlessly roams.
A spirit that sweeps through the stillness of plains,
A thread through time that forever remains.
In stories still silent, one truth we saw -
No colour can live in the soul of Grá.

Thank you for coming with me on my little journey, that is composing or writing poetry. Life is a journey we all walk on. My journey in creating poetry is a journey of its own. Which I still learn much on as I write.
At times I experiment on techniques or ways to improve my poetry. Getting feedback is always most welcome for efforts like these.
When I write poetry, some readers will be offended with something within the poetry. I do not write to offend, But such are written for reasons I outline in the posts. Often I miss typos and mistakes when publishing each poem. I correct the moment I discover such mistakes.
