Unchanged, Yet Unknowing

Another Post for another year, But It is great to be back on the flow of composing Poetry again. This Poem has been helped by recent weather system flows and how it has hit folks here. There is no Note that could come with this except this Poem fits a Theme that flowed through a couple of Poems last year and fits almost perfectly with a Seasonal Cycle series of Poems..

Unchanged, Yet Unknowing






The cold morning air sent shivers shining through,
No warmth for weary hearts remained, save you.
Fresh frost froze all in rigid, brittle light,
Cutting deeper than my strength could stand to fight.



Noting Nature’s quiet beauty still could shine,
It soothed the soul, a touch of grand design.
Wrapped well for warmth, I stepped the frozen street,
On glassed ground walking, wary of defeat.



Winter wept and hardened tears to ice once more,
This lonely soul had felt such trials before.
I burned with life against that numbing cold,
Where sweet-scented temptation dared be bold.



That scented swell, the promise that it wore,
Could warm these bones with echoes held in store.
To free the frost from feelings locked in time,
I climbed through iced and troubled thoughts, my crime.



I turned toward tested roads where safety dwelt,
Where cold wed warmth as in that hush I knelt.
Yet frozen thoughts still followed where I went,
For temptation tried my will and left its dent.



The road lay still, no judgment left to lend,
Just breath and frost and thoughts I could not mend.
Some warmth must fade for wiser warmth to grow, 
I walked on home, unchanged, yet unknowing so.
