This Season’s Embrace

Working on this Poem I was caught questioning how to play? Meaning How do I work what I have laid within the stranzas? As One who is Irish and Proud, But also Celtic through History and what it implied. Combining my Christian faith to my toughts and beliefs, it becomes a field to roam and sometimes lightly thread.

In this Poem I write on the season of christmas, BUT also on the beautiful part that is Love, Giving and Faith. As an Irish man who is proud of my Celtic herritage I also write on a part that used to exist pre christian, in other words before the words of Christ was preached in Ireland there was another system that took place and I believe still does in some areas.

This is not to take from one and push to another, But it highlights what runs in common and the beautiful aspect o f societty that is missed out on throughout the year. I believe that my Faith or belief in my Faith does not give me any right to Push or force my belief onto others, If asked I will provide what I know and believe at that point. Until then all my writings are for an artistic view point.. Having said this.

This Season’s Embrace




Here I sit silent, so still on that night, 
As children lie dreaming, held gently from sight. 
For gifts softly granted, may come to wait, 
While Love rests together with peace and with fate.



So holy was held that hush of delight, 
By faith shaped in custom, in power and might. 
Yet history, quietly guarding its place, 
Set time and its turning for season’s embrace.



Before bell and blessing, bright altar’s flame, 
Long nights gathered warmth, the hearth and its name. 
Dark days bowed low to the firelight’s stay, 
Hope hummed in homes at the turn of the day.



Old roots lay remembering earth’s tender plea, 
Of solstice, cycles and what came to be. 
Not spoken in challenge, nor sharply displayed, 
But breathed through winters, forebears once made.



Now gentle nights graze, the pride tucked inside, 
As calm settles softly where questions abide; 
Children keep dreaming as deep dark draws near, 
Unknowing, stories laid year upon year.



Let Love lie lightly with peace once again, 
Kindness keep candle where creeds may contend; 
For seasons are woven from more than one view, 
And warmth, still warmth, when the night feels most true.



Thus sit we, not silent, but softened in sight, 
By past and present entwined in this night. 
Where Yule and Christmas, though parted by name,
 Share stillness and solace, kindle the same.
