The Silent Shadow

This Post has been composed and written a couple of days before this release is published for reading etc. I was struck with an inspiration of a number of words that seemed to fit together for a Poem that took place very quickly and in fact was edited almost as fast. Which is something new for me as I like to work on poetry for some time before finishing them.

As a Challenge I wanted to post the usual pre poem acticle to explain things etc. BUT Not to give away the exact topic that was in mind for almost as long as many poems here on site. In other words This poem is on a topic that has been deeply rooted in me for a long long time.

BUT like most poetry there are some gems for thoughts, of which I will point readers in that direction to consider.

One is a Song sung by Travis Tritt called “Country Aint Country No More” That I suggest folks watch or listen to as an idea where this Poem may take them. This song or video is a live recording by Travis Tritt and worth a listen to. Because this poem should take the reader on that same road or maybe in the least parallel to that.

The other brief tip on where to consider thinking is that compared to days long gone by we life in a very fast paced world that seems to almost enjoy dumping folks who struggle out the side doors as it were and leave them behind without another thought.

About The Poem:

In creating this poem or any poem so much Imagination is put into creating and composing the poetry, which is an enjoyment in the least. But I also like to set the reader thinking and pondering maybe even answering questions asked of them either on the poem or within the post. Like this one which will have a simple question “Can you figure the Exact topic in question? Like what is the main Topic or Gem for thought in this Poem? The reason for this is because it should help a reader to grasp what the topic is and maybe consider why an old Iriosh Bloke living in a city he dislikes and writes such a poem on a toic like this? It is NOT on FAITH or RELIGION.. I could not care less in that regard, because much more is at stake, The ability to comunicate without judgement or set aside as been one whom is disliked.

I set my daughter reading this poem to tell me what it was about and she did rather well, while missing the very topic. The main issue for folks to do something like this is to get them thinking about a poem and why it was written and what brings this to be brought up etc and also where they stood on the topic.

I am a strong believer in certain topics but this one was something that struck, and to avoid giving much away I am avoiding to say much more or go much further. I am hoping for this to be online for Publishing by Wednesday.

Having said all of that; Please Enjoy This Poem:

(( Normally I use a Photograph to try and show a brief glimpse into a Poem I composed and give credit to the creator of the photograph here. BUT again today I have done a little different and In this case A Photo shown here was Generated by AI. In this case This Topic was difficult to create an image for thus I accepted the closest one that suited this Poem. Does it work?))

The Silent Shadow

Wishing when the world turned slower,
And the Pulse of Life was lower,
That unchanging ways remained still,
Thus fitting the bill cost no skill.

This great guilded cage they have built,
Societies eden has spilt,
Dry washed splinters left living fear,
Past the veil ne’er changing these gears.

Standing still smelling the roses,
This guilded cage yet exposes,
No Robin Hood exists to save,
Those cast to the winds and thus brave.

Double deception mounts past the walls,
There webs in disguise thus recalls,
The Echo muted and silenced where,
Rebel yells sung loudly aware.

This silent shadow of fear stands,
To raised hands beyond their own brands,
Yet the fragrance of Roses spread,
This old benign contagion thread.

ENDING THOUGHTS:

Thank you for following me on my little journey, that is composing or writing poetry. If Life is a journey which we all walk on and my journey in creating Poetry is a journey of it’s own. Which I still learn much on as I write.

At times I experiment on methods or way how I can improve my poetry, therefore getting feed back is always most welcome for such as these.

When I write poetry, some readers may be offended with something within the poetry. I do not write to offend, But such are written for reasons I outline in the posts. Often I miss typos and mistakes when publishing each poem. BUT I correct the moment I discover such mistakes.

But Poetry is a form of art work that I enjoy and thus using it in a manner to touch or inspire the reader.

Thank you for joining me on this journey.

Poetry is a learning curve where I always work to improve. A lot of work goes into editing and reediting and then repeating that process on a number of occasions until I am happy with the result. This is how I operate in creating posts to share here.

Please forgive for any such mistakes and for your understanding this.

  1. Quite an awesome post, Pat!!! Not sure I can even come close, But to me the first stanza seems to say it all:
Wishing when the world turned slower,
And the Pulse of Life was lower,
    That unchanging ways remained still,
Thus fitting the bill cost no skill.

    Wishing for days gone by
when the world and life was slower
more social and seemed more livable?

And then a depiction of how things have changed
and how we have to cope now.

    Bravo, Pat!!!

    1. Congrats Chuck, You got the most of it and pretty much the core of it. “Compared to life as it used to be, Life appears to be moving a lot faster with Financial gain being the core of anyones gain in life. Even in cities life appears to move a whole lot faster to the point that Peoples care for one another is a rare thing to have now, Very few people take a little time to slow things in their own lives a little bit, even to the point of Smelling the roses or watching how Animals act and interact with each other. Our lives have become swamped with keeping up with life that our ability to care enough had almost disappeared. ” That is what I see as being in this Poem. I loved the finished prodeuct but remains to see how readers view it.. Thank you again Chuck.

      1. Yeah, I at least got some of it!!! Great Post, Pat!!! Yes, it is sad what our society has become because of greed and selfishness! In my opinion encouraged by business, government and even religion. I think nowadays religion reacts in the same way as Jesus’ parable about the Good Samaritan. All the religious walking on the opposite side of the road. I love that parable!!!

Power Corrupts… You got a Great part of it correct Chuck.. Cheers.
