This Storm

Over the last number of days, the topic of today’s post was in my mind and in fact had complete hold of my mind for such a long time. It is a topic that is important to get it correct and to the point from where I am coming at this from. Also having come through a time where inspiration was on vacation or so it appeared and I grasped this with both hands as it were.

In poetry I like to hide a number of things beneath the surface and also with metaphors, imagery I like to strive and make these poems work. Some I know have falled flat and in my own term, “Very Flat indeed”.

In this poem I used some situations from experience close to me and others that I think helps to bring this poem into a world that I hope will understand. I also intended to name the exact topic hidden beneath the lines here! BUT at this last moment I am letting that unsaid and I await any comments or remarks from readers who either know or discover a thread through the lines of this poem.

I honestly would love to read any ideas folks find in this poem, My word is that I will reveal the topic in the comments IF someone either gets close or hits it spot on. Also I do this way both for respect for people involved or and people who may be in such a spot themselves. It is NOT an easy road, but we are on that road either way and have to continue that road regardless of any outcome.

About The Poem:

Unlike the last post, This Poem does have a topic and something important that has found it’s way into this creative stream of creative thoughts. I have tried as best as I could to hide much behind any imagry or metaphor or any other thing that i could think of, Both for creative reasons and for poetic reasons.

I think it has worked very well and I look forward to what folks have thought about this. Although I am not revealing exactly what the topic is right here, I am instead waiting for any reader to reveal if they know what they found and what that topic is. It is theraphy in a way but also for me it is an exercise to find if it worked that I disgused something well enough inside a poem, without killing the poem or overloading a poem to the point of falling flat.

The rhyming pattern is the same old pattern that I have settled on in recent months and enjoy writing using, also all other writing styles remain the same. I have slowed down how fast I write and upload to the blog. This is to take a little extra time to edit and work on a little more when needed to do so.

BUT what can be revealed is within this poem, we have an elderly Man who lives alone, is sheltered safe within his home from a snow storm that strikes outside his place. The rest is for folks to figure and find. I do things this way for respect and with respect to any who walk that road. When folks find that topic they will know the road.

But having said all of this; Please Enjoy This Poem:

This Storm

This blanket of white covers the land,
As snow falls silently on command.
Inside, an open fire burns bright,
Where flames dance, with vacant delight.

Where once, voices sounded with fire,
And Children ran like a noisy choir.
Which now remain his memory,
Playing parts of his life story.

He sits hunched in a chair before,
The fire as sparks crashed to the floor.
Snow outside floated in the wind,
Like the memories that filled his mind.

The sound from the TV filled the room,
To hide the silence and the gloom.
Nearby his tea sits, untouched still,
His thoughts like the flames burn at will.

In his trembling hand he held a phone,
A call that ended without a tone.
Like the falling snow his mind swirled,
A confusion that held his world.

Around him photographs filled his space,
Where faded smiles that linger with grace.
His world, his life now fading in time,
This zest for life an unsteady climb.

ENDING THOUGHTS:

Thank you for following me on my little journey, that is composing or writing poetry. If Life is a journey which we all walk on and my journey in creating Poetry is a journey of it’s own. Which I still learn much on as I write.

At times I experiment on methods or way how I can improve my poetry, therefore getting feedback is always most welcome for such as these.

When I write poetry, some readers may be offended with something within the poetry. I do not write to offend, But such are written for reasons I outline in the posts. Often I miss typos and mistakes when publishing each poem. BUT I correct the moment I discover such mistakes.

But Poetry is a form of art work that I enjoy and thus using it in a manner to touch or inspire the reader.

    1. Sad: Yes.. But it depends on how you look at it. On one side sad ending to a life (If that was theend!) And on another side, there is a zest for life and the history the elderly hold within themselves and their experiences in life is beyond words. I can say that the person That inspited this is still safe and well.. BUT the story of an elderly person living alone with their memories can be sad BUT the story behind it goes further…

As alkways thank you for your comment Mary, It is appreciated beyond words.
