The Stream

Introduction:

Many years ago when I had started to write poetry, pretty much everything I wrote was destroyed before anyone would ever find or that any ne would ever realise that I wrote poetry.

One such poem I wrote back then was a result of my playing aboutwith Old English. It is worth a note that I knew nothing about Old English at that point. What I wrote was My own uneducated mind as it were. That Poem was Called Fair Maid. Or at least It was somewhere close to that name.

In recent days I revisited that thread of thought and Composed a poem using that same vein of thought. Obviously a number of changes were made since then and from memory I am beyond certain that it differs greatly to the first draft back then..

About The Poem:

Obviously also there is the added fact of a B.A Degree in English Literature to my name now and still have issues with spelling (LoL) . But regarding todays poem, Using A Maiden, a Stream and a walk along with a love that was there, todays poem was again born. Thus the end result is below.

Keeping with recent weeks poetry, I am using pretty much Free Verse with my usual rhyming method added where I can fit in. I have also eased back on the editing of my poetrybecause so much time was involved in that. Thus what folks see on this poemis what I became happy with.

For the most part I kept todays poem as simple as I could and tried as best that I could to keep my Hibernian English use to as little as possible. Also my slang is kept aside as much as I can do so, thus I hope my writing gets better and easier to understand.

There is little to say about this poem except that I gave myself a goal and topic list with words that I outlined above. All of which I used to great effect, or so I believe. In finishing I enjoy setting a Goal and Topic for a poem and the result of this one is below.

Having said all of this. Please Enjoy This Poem:

The Stream

In days of yore, when love was new,
And hearts were full, where dreams yet true.
I met a maiden, both fair and bright,
By a sparkling stream, in the morning light.

With eyes, like diamonds, that would brightly shine,
For her laughter, like music always divine.
We roamed along the stream's soft bank,
With a love, like the water, pure that ne’er sank.

We talked of life, our hopes, and our dreams,
Of a future, full of golden schemes
For time, it seems, had other plans
And our love, like the stream, there it spans.

Thus years rolled by, and yet I would stray,
And lost the love, that once held sway.
For ever in my dreams, she strolls with me,
By the sparkling stream, A memory be.

This stream, it flows, still on life’s road,
And in its depths, where secret's are towed.
For such love, like the stream, one always sees,
The constant flow, in a lasting breeze.

ENDING THOUGHTS:

Thank you for following me on this journey, This is my journey through composing and creating poetry. If Life is a journey which we all walk on, then my journey in creating Poetry is a journey of it’s own. Which I still learn much on as I write.

At times I experiment on methods or way how I can improve my poetry, therefore getting feedback is always most welcome for such as these.

In writing poetry some topics will either offend folks or a reader either may agree with a point or disagree with. I am Perfectly OK with how folks feel on some Poetry, even if they disagree with my views. But Poetry is a form of art work that I enjoy and thus using it in a manner to touch or inspire the reader.

I would like to Pass on my thanks to you for joining me on this journey.

Poetry for me is a constant learning curve that I always strive to improve. Often due to the speed of my typing and a few other issues, mistakes and typos will find their way into published posts. I continue to work on improving this as I move along. One such change is how I have been writing and how my poetry appears in relation to how the rest of the blog appears. So much work goes into editing and reediting and then repeating that process on a number of occasions until i am happy with the result.

Please forgive for any such mistakes and for your understanding this.
