Thoughts & Quotes Save Time

Over the past couple of days, todays poem has taken a variety of forms. It has been deleted and reorganised a number of times, until I was reading through a list of Top Irish Insults. These insults I remember being used and in recent times they have been more jokes or a form of banter between friends that were actually insults at one time. Still these insults are a laugh and provides some mfood for any friendly insult or Banter in time.

But todays poem comes from being inspired by one of those such insults or banter.

Below are the List that helped inspire todays poem or rather one of them did.

– You’re as thick as manure but only half as useful.

– A face that would drive rats from a barn.

– If work was a bed, you’d sleep on the floor.

– I never forget an Irish face, but in your case, I’ll make an exception.

– May you melt off the earth like snow off the ditch.

– May your pipe never smoke, may your teapot be broke.

– May your spade never dig, may your sow never pig.

– May the cat eat you and the devil eat the cat.

– When you were born you were so ugly the nurse slapped your mother.

– You’re as sharp as a beach ball.

Each of those above you may have either heard of OR heard variations of them, BUT they provided me with a little laugh. But the one that inspired this poem is “If work was a bed, you’d sleep on the floor.”

But a simple explaination to the poem is that IT consists of Thoughts or forms of advice etc that at times do not flow as one should do. BUT it does when one reads it as the poem is and points, advice etc all come out to you.

Hence the title “Thoughts & Quotes Save Time”.

They may or may not be ideal ones for people But still helpfull for someone somewhere. BUT one that springs out to me is Life is Short and there is NO Reset or Rewind Switch that will turn back the clock. Thus why hold hatred or Why hold to Bitterness when the sands of time flow faster than you can expect.

We know not the hour of our passing, But we can either leave a mark ore pass silently through life. The mark we make in life is our own to make and it is never too late. For me a part of my mark in these days is the poetry I compose and let up on this blog. I may never be a top class poet. BUT I see myself as a poet and that is important to me.

I am not certain if people will understand what this poem is about.

Thoughts & Quotes Save Time





Sleeping on the floor is no bore,
Like leaving town to beat the chore,
But the bed stays, 
Unused yet who pays.


Insult still knocks on your door,
Disappointment stays on the floor,
Building houses of glass,
When one missed class.


Spin the bottle biding time,
Playing a mime without his rhyme,
Sands that pass too fast,
Like the last bus past.


The empty glass that’s never full,
Void of a vision to pull,
Cannot reset this,
That switch went amiss.


Hatred carries your suit cases,
By those places with new faces,
Lost for all time,
Too much left to climb.


Pass the drink to save the thirst,
Who ne’er tried to finish first,
A Life you cannot save,
Time is not your slave.
