Untitled Series Part 9

While sitting to write todays Poem etc, I found myself struggling to find any form of poetic flow. Which resulted in rewriting and then rewriting again and then again start all over! This was until I found myself with the completed poem, I could never say that it is amongst my better ones. But it has become one that I am happy with the finished product.

What makes this one different to other recent poems is that it had one topic in mind, no dual type subjects in which one would be for the most part hidden for the reader to find. But rather todays poem is coveringa sleepless nightduring one of the storms that hit Ireland at this time of year, for the most part Autumn is a storm time, resulting in floodings and fallen trees etc,

Thus I took one such storm which passed our area one night and by daylight all was clear, with the exception of damage the storm left in its track. These storms will never match up to storms folks will witness where they live. But as Ireland is an Island we get portions of storms or remnants of what was once tropical storms or stronger storms which pass our way and wear itself out eventually.

But it always presents time for artists and I dare say poets to find a creative element in such passing storms. As we hit november Nights appear longer with darkness onset earlier that other times of year. Not the best for those with mental health issues, yet we survive and keepon going.

One of the joys for me on a stormy night is in knowing I am secure and safe from the elements outside, then watching the room light up with shadows dance as the storm goes on outside. Living close to a city we have lots of light to aid the dance of shadows as it were. Thus todays poem in full is this on one such night, sleepless for the most part, yet warm and enjoying the show go on about us.

I hope that this is shown in todays poem and I do hope that readers also find themselves picture such storms go on and safe in knowing they are in the midst of one and safe… Nature at its best. Having said all of this; Please Enjoy this Poem and if you wish to comment on any aspect of this, feel free to do so:

Untitled Series Part 9

Looking at November nights storm break out,
Bedroom walls filled as shadows prance about.
Where they flicker and danced excited like,
And wind peaked which tossed everything alike.

There rain beating heavy against the pane,
An orchestra of sound began again.
I lay watching silhouettes make their way,
Drops beat on the pane to a pulse with spray.

For hours sounds and thoughts appeared to battle,
The contrasting temperatures rattle.
Senses captured by the storm, soon brought sleep,
Swept away in warmth until dawn did peep.

Rattling windows, countless frames, storm nights fall,
Natures fury on display with her squall.
The crust of humanity shelter wide,
As battle commenced far and wide did hide.

No global warming crossed the night to cite,
As passengers kept airtight past her slight.
She equals the rampage keeping the score,
Dawns light revealed rite, for more was in store.
