Concrete Jungle

The Poem I wish to share today is one I have been looking at writing for quiet a long time. But I have never been happy enough to settle for a finished article. The finished piece that I share here has been finished a few moments before writing here.

Over the years we have heard so much regarding the environment and the deforestation that we have seen in the name of progress. All whilst the concrete jungles grow. I have never been a lover of city life and prefer the country air in comparrison to strolling through streets of concrete. Thus is the bones as it were of todays poem. I hope that you enoy.

Concrete Jungle

As the rains fell I walked the cobbled streets,
Seeing the lives swallowed without receipts.
This concrete jungle cares not for our cries,
Watching as People passed without seeing eyes.

A Concrete Jungle that goes on for miles,
Rows that continue with various styles.
Smoking stacks that billow and blow past,
How many have failed to see and let it last.


The environment has lost so we hear,
The damage cost has hit so near.
Jungles burn, shredded and near Lost,
Whilst the Concrete jungles grow such Cost.


Turn the tide and step outside to feel the breeze,
The Planet needs the growth we shred with ease.
Balance the books and save the life that depends,
The time has come to now make amends.

Although not close to my best work, I believe it carries amessage that I believe needs to be heard time after time. We as huumans need tto remind ourselves that we have a responsibility to care for what we see about us.
